Thursday 22nd July 1971

I was out 'n about with the team at 6.00am delivering the milk around the quiet streets of Craiglea and Morningside. At the end of our round as I waved au-revoir to our new grumpy boss with one hand whilst with the other I helped myself to another pack of butter. After my toast 'n butter I played tennis all morning and by dinner time I was absolutely starving. In the afternoon I skipped my papers and instead played a challenge re-match against Chaz Higgins. This time I held my nerve and my serve and saw him off winning 6-4 6-4 and won two bob (10p). The money was irrelevant; it's the competition that I like although playing for money adds a wee bit of spice to things too.
