I Sher-Would

We watched less television in the summer months and during the school holidays but over our beanz 'n toast tea would usually watch the likes of Robin Hood starring Richard Greene as Robin. Rather like the distinctive Fireball XL5 theme tune it featured a rather haunting song.

'Robin Hood, Robin Hood,
Riding through the glen,
Robin Hood, Robin Hood,
With his band of men,
Feared by the bad, loved by the good,

Robin Hood! Robin Hood! Robin Hood!'

Richard Greene was brilliant as Robin Hood combining humour; authority; nobility and is athletic, swashbuckling and a bonny fechter not to mention his great skill with the bow and arrow

Similarly, Alan Wheatley plays a wonderful part as the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham and Friar Tuck is a lovely mix of affability and irritability and is a cantankerous, sometimes a beer swilling, deer guzzling oaf!

And then as soon our tea was over and the theme tune sounded its last bars, Michael Hanlon; Boo-Boo Hanlon; Iain Hoffmann; Ali Douglas et al were straight back out to playing with our own roughly hewn bows and arrows.
